Nerve conduction Electromyography 3 rd Edition Evoked potentials Editor: U. K. Misra, J. Kalita Year of Publication: 2014, 3 rd edition, 415 Pages Publisher: Elsevier, a Chairman of Reed Elsevier India Private Limited
Profs. Misra and J. Kalita have brought out an excellent "under one roof" book of Clinical Neurophysiology which would be extremely useful to all students of neurology and practicing consultants of electrodiagnosis. This third edition only proves how popular this book is.
Each chapter is well-designed and has a complete overview blending theory with clinical application covering all aspects of Clinical Neurophysiology, including intra-operative monitoring, cognitive evoked potential and motor evoked potential.
I am particularly impressed with illustrations of needle insertion which are clear and self-explanatory.
Inclusion of evoked potentials in a simple format is particularly useful for post graduate students.
Of particular attention is the chapter on "Role of Clinical Neurophysiology in the Prognosis of Neuromuscular Disorders" which is sometimes the essence of an electro-diagnostic procedure. The elaborate "Contents" page, the quality of paper and presentation make the book even more attractive.
I would suggest the authors bring out the book in DVD form along with illustrations and demonstrations of needle electromyography.
I am sure all students and practicing electromyographers would welcome this new edition.
